Intro To Avalanches
Intro To Avalanches is a one day field course that covers basic avalanche rescue skills - including transceiver searching, probing, and shoveling - as well as avalanche terrain identification and travel techniques to avoid risk; interpretation of an avalanche forecast; and basic snowpack and weather factors that leads to avalanches. This course typically satisfies US Forest Service requirements for guides of permitted outfitters.
Participants need to have:
a modern, 3-antennae digital avalanche transceiver; probe, shovel and backpack; as well as a snowmobile (or snow bike) in order to access the field.
